DIRECTORA DEL MINISTERIO LA ESPERANZA DE RAQUEL
“Christ has invested in you.”
This phrase holds a powerful truth: that God, through Jesus Christ, has entrusted each of us withsacred gifts and a divine purpose, expecting us to develop and live them out for a greater good.
This is how I see myself today
My name is Lulu Valdivia. I am the mother of two sons: Moses (22 years old) and John (14 years old). I have been married for 31 years to Cenovio Valdivia.
I came to this ministry nearly 20 years ago, during the most devastating season of my life—the loss of my unborn baby, who died in my womb at 7 weeks.
I remember, with pain, how a man—my boss at the time—forced me to go with him to an abortion clinic. I was only 21 years old, trying desperately to help my single mother, who was raising 11children after being abandoned by my father. We had lost everything—our home, our friends, and our family. I was her hope. But inside, I was broken, confused, and lost.
Far from home, searching for food and shelter—but more than anything, for compassion and meaning in my daily choices—I ended up in a deeply painful and abusive situation. I eventually ran away, unnoticed by anyone. I arrived in San Diego with nothing but a faint spark of hope.
It took me 13 years to finally speak openly about my past and the death of my baby. Then, Rachel’s Hope came into my life, bringing with it light, healing, and the hand of God. It was the beginning of a promise made real—a new beginning.
After my retreat, I felt called to open a door for other women carrying the same wound. Since then, to the best of my ability, I have embraced and honored the story of every woman hurt by abortion—offering them the truth of what happened, with love and grace.
With the help of the Holy Spirit, God has granted me His merciful forgiveness. He has helped me to recognize the sacred life of my child and has guided me to reconcile with everyone involved in that painful chapter. God revealed His amazing love to me—showing me a new way of seeing, not with condemnation, but with hope.
Nothing God says is ever in vain. He is powerful enough to redeem all of our wrongs. Only Jesus can do that.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
